Simulate a Google AdWords Click to Test Tracking Numbers

Call tracking numbers are displayed based on the marketing source of the visitor. We walk you through how to test your tracking numbers from different traffic sources. We look at a direct visit and then we show you how to simulate a visit from Google AdWords, without clicking an ad.

To simulate a Google AdWords click, clear your browser cookies, then add ?gclid=test to the end of your URL.

    Example: http://www.whatconverts.com/?gclid=test

or, add campaign, content and keyword variables to the test URL

    Example: http://www.whatconverts.com/?gclid=test&campaign=test-campaign&content=ad-test&keyword=keyword-test

Note: You will need to clear your cookies before simulating an ad click. For information on clearing your cookies based on your browser:

The following video shows you how to test your call tracking numbers.

A Gclid is a unique tracking parameter and also an abbreviation for “Google Click Identifier“.
