Team Member Spotlight: George Davila—King in the North, Ruler of the Kitchen

WhatConverts isn't just a product. It's a team. And without that team, we know we'd be nowhere.

That's why each month, we recognize one team member who's gone above and beyond in their role, and we share a little bit about who they are and what makes them so integral to WhatConverts. (They also get a bit of free swag from our merch store!)

This month, our spotlight employee is George Davila, Technical Support Engineer.

Tell us a little about your career path.

How did you first get into the SaaS or tech industry, or what led you to WhatConverts?

Initially, because of my previous sales experience at Verizon, I was hired at a SaaS company as an Account Executive. Since that company consisted of fewer than 15 people, I had to wear a lot of hats and took on CSM responsibilities as well.

What do you enjoy most about your role at WhatConverts?

Is there something unique about working on our team that you find exciting?

Joining the support team at WhatConverts was a breath of fresh air. In my previous role, I worked in a similar support role, but the team was cold and not very helpful when I initially joined. At WC, the support team was very supportive (no pun intended), and everyone was willing to help me with any questions I had. A year later, the team is still just as helpful whenever there are questions.

What’s one project or achievement at WhatConverts that you’re particularly proud of?

This could be a specific individual contribution, a customer success story, or a team accomplishment.

The achievements I am most proud of are maintaining a 100% CSAT score during my first year at WhatConverts and assisting with updating our internal knowledge base.

How do you like to unwind after a busy day in the world of SaaS?

Tell us what you like to do, and how you maintain work-life balance.

After a busy day, I like to step away from my desk and take some time to relax. If they are around, I’ll play with my two cats. If the day is tougher than normal, I will play video games or go on a walk to blow off some steam. I am also a full-time student, so working on something else that is school-related helps with work-life balance.

What’s a fun fact about you that your colleagues might not know?

It can be anything—from an interesting fact, to a hidden talent, to quirky hobbies.

I am a good cook! Something I enjoy every day is making dinner at home for my partner and myself to share when she arrives from work. I also have a vast understanding of Game of Thrones lore.

If you could instantly learn one skill (personal or professional), what would it be?

Perhaps you want to code like a pro, master the art of PPC, or pick up a non-work-related hobby?

One skill I would like to learn instantly is to read any code language/framework and understand or troubleshoot it. Software has become a major part of everyone’s lives, and being able to immediately understand any code that I see would be really cool/helpful.

What’s something you’re currently obsessed with?

This can be work-related (like a tool or trend) or something personal (foods, pets, places, TV shows - anything!).

Since the weather has gotten warmer, I’ve picked up fishing again, and it's something I look forward to every weekend. It's been a good hobby to get me outside, and there are so many tools/techniques to use and learn about.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, professionally or personally?

How has this advice helped shape your life or your career?

The best advice I’ve received is to not be afraid to ask for help. Sometimes I understand that asking for help can be intimidating, but it's much better to ask for help than to do nothing.

You’re given the chance to win $5 million, but you have to beat 100 people at a single task. You can choose the task—what would it be and why do you think you’d win?

(This is a great opportunity to highlight a unique skill, or stead-fast know-how!)

I believe that I can beat 100 people at FIFA for $5 million. I have been playing that game for years and have maintained a high win rate across every version released since 2014.
