Enrich Your Leads with the Lead Import Tool

Use the Lead Import Tool to connect your marketing data with your CRM and sales results.

By enriching leads with data from external systems (like sales value, status, or account owner), you create a single source of truth where marketing, sales, and ROI align.

This process turns your leads into categorized, valued, and qualified data that drives smarter reporting and campaign optimization.

Why Should You Enrich Leads?

In most accounts, marketing data shows how many leads were generated, but not which ones turned into revenue.

By importing CRM data back into WhatConverts, you can:

  • Connect marketing attribution with closed sales.
  • Identify which campaigns, keywords, and ads drive the highest-value customers.
  • Eliminate manual entry by updating all leads in bulk.
  • Report ROI and performance based on revenue, not just lead count.

Once leads are enriched with quote and sales values, stages, or additional context (like job type or region), you can qualify them and send only revenue-driven leads to your ad platforms.

The Enrichment Workflow

You can repeat this process monthly, weekly, or based on your reporting cycle.

  1. Export your monthly leads from WhatConverts
  2. Keep identifiers to match leads
    • Use the Lead ID (recommended) or Email/Phone if that’s how your CRM identifies leads.
    • These identifiers ensure each enriched record updates the correct lead in WhatConverts.
  3. Add CRM or sales data to your export
    • Use CRM fields such as Sales Value, Quote Value, Lead Status, Stage, or Account Owner.
    • Add them as new columns to your Lead Import CSV.
    • You can also include metrics like Lifetime Value, Customer Type, or Close Date.
  4. Upload the enriched CSV using the Lead Import Tool
    • Use the enriched CSV file to update existing leads.
    • Map each new column to the right field type (e.g., Custom Field, Additional Field, Sales Value).
  5. Your leads are now enriched
    • With valued leads (Sales/Quote Value) and consistent qualification (Quotable and Custom Fields), you can report and optimize ad platforms using quality and revenue, not volume.

Note: You can also import Sales Values as new leads using “Transactions” as the Lead Type. This lets you track multiple revenue events per lead and import that data directly from external systems.

Best Practices

  • Start with exports. Use filtered lead exports as your base CSV every month.
  • Standardize mappings. Define consistent Custom, Additional, and Value fields.
  • Use recurring imports. Enrich on a set schedule for accurate revenue reporting.
  • Automate qualification. Use Lead Intelligence and Integrations to automate this process.
