Connect WhatConverts to Google Analytics 4
Connecting WhatConverts to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) enables you to send lead events to your GA4 property, where they appear alongside your website traffic and engagement data. This integration gives you a complete view of user behavior by combining WhatConverts' lead tracking with GA4's analytics capabilities.
Before you start, see What is the Google Analytics Integration? for an overview. You'll need your GA4 Measurement ID and API Secret from your Google Analytics account.

- In your WhatConverts profile, go to "Tracking" from the top menu.
- Select "Integrations".
- On the Integrations page, find the "Google Analytics" module.

You'll now need to enter your Measurement ID and API Secret from Google Analytics.

Select Lead Types to Send
On the "Select lead types" page, choose which lead types you want to send to Google Analytics 4:
- Phone Calls: Set a minimum call duration in seconds (e.g., 60 seconds to filter out short calls)
- Text Messages: SMS leads
- Web Forms: Form submissions
- Transactions: E-commerce purchases
- Custom Events: Event tracking
- Chats: Chat conversations
- Emails: Inbound emails
- Appointments: Scheduled appointments
- Others: Other lead types
Check the boxes next to the lead types you want to send.
Configure Lead Status
Choose whether to include lead status (unique vs. repeat) in the event name:
- No: Keep standard event names (e.g., phone_call, web_form)
- Yes: Add status to event names (e.g., phone_call_unique, web_form_repeat)
Most users should select "No" to keep standard event names that are easier to use in GA4 reports.
Finally, click "Finish" to complete the integration.
Your Google Analytics 4 integration is now active. WhatConverts will begin sending lead events to your GA4 property based on your configuration.
What Happens After Connection
Once connected, WhatConverts will:
- Send lead events to GA4 based on your selected lead types
- Include event parameters with each lead (source, medium, value, page location, etc.)
- Attribute leads to user sessions using the GA4 Client ID for accurate journey tracking
- Update events in real-time as leads are tracked in WhatConverts
Events typically appear in GA4 within 1-5 minutes after the lead is created in WhatConverts.
For a complete list of event names and parameters sent to GA4, see Understand What Event Data is Sent to Google Analytics.
