Track Cognito Web Forms

Cognito Forms is an online form builder that lets you create custom forms with advanced features like calculations, conditional logic, and payment processing. WhatConverts can track Cognito Form submissions using the seamless embed method combined with manual setup, which ensures all form data is captured with complete attribution.

Note: The WhatConverts tracking script must be installed on your website before you can track Cognito Forms.

Set Up Cognito Form Tracking

Cognito Form tracking requires two main steps: embedding your form using the seamless method and configuring manual tracking in WhatConverts.

Step 1: Embed Your Cognito Form Using Seamless Method

  1. In your Cognito Forms account, navigate to the form you want to track.
  2. Go to the "Publish Code" or "Embed" section.
  3. On the page where you want to place your Cognito Form, use the "Seamless" method to embed the form.
  4. Track Cognito Web Forms

The seamless embed method integrates the form directly into your page's HTML, which allows WhatConverts to properly detect and track form submissions.

Step 2: Configure Manual Tracking3 in WhatConverts

  1. Log in to the WhatConverts profile where you want to track your Cognito form.
  2. Go to "Tracking" from the top menu.
  3. Select "Forms" then click "Web Forms".
  4. Track Cognito Web Forms

  5. Click the "Add Web Form" button.
  6. Select "Manual Setup".
  7. In the "Form Name" field, enter a descriptive name (e.g., Cognito Form).
  8. For "Attribute Type", select "Class" from the dropdown.
  9. For "Attribute Type Value", enter cog-form.
  10. Click "Finish".
  11. Track Cognito Web Forms

Your Cognito Form is now configured for tracking. WhatConverts will capture all submissions from this form with full attribution data.

Test Your Cognito Form Tracking

After setting up tracking, verify that form submissions are being captured correctly:

  1. Go to your website where the Cognito Form is located.
  2. Fill out the form with test information and submit it.
  3. Return to your WhatConverts profile and view your form leads.
  4. Find the test form submission and check its data.

If your test lead appears correctly, your Cognito Form tracking is working properly.
