Use the Lead Import Tool
The Lead Import tool lets you bring lead data into WhatConverts from a CSV file in bulk. You can import new leads that don’t exist yet or update existing leads with richer data (e.g., sales and quote values, CRM information, lead quality details).
How It Works
The Lead Import Tool follows a simple process:
- Choose your action: Import new leads or update existing leads.
- Prepare and upload your CSV file: Include the required columns and format it correctly.
- Map your fields: Match your CSV columns to WhatConverts fields.
- Review and confirm: Approve and complete the import.
Pick Your Path: Import or Update
Decide what you want to:
- Import New Leads: Use when you want to add leads captured outside WhatConverts (CRM exports, spreadsheets, offline events, etc.) so they appear in the Lead Manager with full attribution/reporting. This option can be used to migrate historical data from other systems.
- Update Existing Leads: Use when you want to enrich existing leads (add Custom Fields, Additional Fields, Sales/Quote Value, adjust categorization, lead status, etc.).
Prepare Your CSV File
Your CSV file defines what data gets imported and where it lands.
Make sure it’s formatted correctly and includes the required fields for your action.

Map, Review, and Confirm
Once your CSV is uploaded, WhatConverts will help you:
- Map your fields so data lands in the right place.
- Review your summary before import to confirm everything looks good.
- Finish the import and verify results in your Lead Manager.
