Exclude a Phone Number from Call Tracking Swap
In some cases, you may want to prevent a specific phone number on your website from being replaced by WhatConverts’ dynamic number swapping. This is helpful when a number should always remain visible, such as a partner’s phone number, a location-specific line, or a contact that isn’t part of your call tracking strategy.
Set Up a No-Swap Number
Before you begin, identify which phone number on your site you want to exclude from dynamic swapping. You’ll add a small HTML class to prevent WhatConverts from replacing that number.
- Locate the section of your website’s code that contains the phone number you do not want to swap.
- Add the no-swap class to the HTML element that contains the number.
Example: <div class="no-swap">123-456-7890</div> - Save and publish the page.
- Visit the live version of your site and confirm that the phone number remains unchanged even when other numbers swap dynamically.
Tip: Use the “no-swap” class for phone numbers that belong to affiliates, internal departments, or any third-party listings that should never be attributed through WhatConverts call tracking.
Where to Use the No-Swap Class
Add the no-swap class anywhere a phone number should remain untouched by tracking scripts, including:
- Footer sections that display corporate headquarters or partner numbers
- Contact pages listing departments with separate tracking methods
- Blog posts or press pages referencing external contact numbers
