Hide Sensitive Data from Your Call Transcript with PCI Redaction
PCI Redaction automatically removes sensitive information such as credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, and personal identifiers from both call recordings and transcripts. This feature helps you maintain compliance while protecting customer privacy. Learn more about call transcription in Enable Call Transcription.
Enable PCI Redaction
Before enabling PCI Redaction, confirm that Call Recording is active for the phone numbers you wish to secure.
- In your WhatConverts profile, select “Tracking”, then “Calls”.
- Choose “Phone Numbers”.
- Locate the phone number to protect and click the pencil icon to edit it.
- Under the Advanced Settings section, under Call Transcription, select the PCI Redaction checkbox to enable it.
- Click “Finish” to save your changes.

Tip: You can edit multiple numbers at once by selecting the checkboxes to the left of the numbers. Once in the settings, any changes made, like enabling PCI Redaction, apply to all selected numbers.
Additional Information
When PCI Redaction is enabled, WhatConverts automatically detects and removes sensitive information from both the audio recording and text transcript of calls. Any numbers resembling payment card details or other restricted identifiers are replaced with redacted text.
If you also have Call Transcription enabled, PCI Redaction will apply during the transcription process to ensure that sensitive content never appears in text format.
- Processing Time: When using PCI Redaction with Call Transcription, transcripts may take up to 10 minutes to generate after call completion.
- Billing: PCI Redaction is an additional feature that incurs a small per-minute processing fee. Learn more about rates here.
- Compliance: PCI Redaction is designed to help maintain PCI compliance and data privacy standards.
