Once your marketing spend has been added or connected, you can view performance data directly in your WhatConverts reports.

Before you start, see What is Marketing Spend? for an overview.

Access Marketing Spend From the Summary Report

The Summary Report provides a quick overview of your marketing spend alongside lead volume and quote value.

To view marketing spend in the Summary Report:

  1. Go to "Reports" from the top navigation.
  2. Select "Summary".
  3. On the Summary Report page, scroll to the "Marketing Spend" section in the bottom right.
  4. You'll see your total marketing spend for the selected date range, along with the percentage change from the previous period.
  5. Click "Manage Spend" to add or edit your marketing spend data.

The Summary Report is ideal for a high-level view of spend alongside total leads and quote value.

Access Marketing Spend From the Marketing Channels Report

The Marketing Channels Report shows how your marketing spend is distributed across different channels (like Google CPC, organic, Facebook, etc.) and displays cost efficiency metrics.

To view marketing spend in the Marketing Channels Report:

  1. Go to "Reports" from the top navigation.
  2. Select "Marketing Channels".
  3. On the Marketing Channels page, scroll to the "Channels by Marketing Spend" section in the middle left.
  4. Click "Manage Spend" to add or edit your marketing spend data.

The Marketing Channels Report is ideal for understanding which channels deliver the best ROI and where to optimize spend.

Access Marketing Spend From the Report Library

The Report Library includes pre-built reports with marketing spend tabs that let you view cost metrics alongside lead data for any dimension (source, campaign, keyword, etc.).

To view marketing spend in the Report Library reports:

  1. Access the Report Library.
  2. Choose a report from the library (e.g., "Leads by Source", "Leads by Campaign", or "Leads by Medium").
  3. At the top of the report, you'll see multiple tabs. Click the tab that includes "Marketing Spend" in the name.
  4. The report displays cost metrics such as Marketing Spend, Cost per Lead, and ROI broken down by your selected dimension.

Build Custom Marketing Spend Reports

If the pre-built reports don't meet your needs, you can create custom reports in the Report Builder that include marketing spend data.

To create a custom marketing spend report:

  1. Access the Report Builder.
  2. Build your report by selecting:
    • What you want to report on (e.g., Source, Campaign, Medium).
    • How you want to measure it (e.g., Lead Type, Conversions).
    • Optional filters to narrow your results.
  3. Select the "Source by Marketing Spend" tab (or similar tab based on your report configuration) to view cost metrics.

For detailed instructions on building custom reports, see Create Custom Reports with the Report Builder.

Note: Marketing spend data only appears in reports if you've added spend for the selected date range. If the spend data is missing, verify that you've connected your ad platforms or manually added spend for that period.
