What are Endpoints?
Endpoints in WhatConverts are secure URLs used to receive or update lead data from external systems. They allow you to send data into WhatConverts automatically, for example, when a form is submitted, or a lead is created in another platform.
Endpoints are designed for incoming data only. They use POST requests to create or update leads in your WhatConverts account. You can’t use these URLs to retrieve data from WhatConverts.
To retrieve or GET data from WhatConverts, see What are Webhooks in WhatConverts? and Set Up Webhooks in WhatConverts.
Note: Data can only be sent to endpoints in two file formats: CSV or JSON.
Why Use Endpoints?
Endpoints make it possible to send lead data into WhatConverts from external systems without manual uploads. This is essential for maintaining consistent lead tracking when data originates outside WhatConverts.
With Endpoints, you can:
- Automatically create new leads from other platforms using POST requests.
- Update existing lead records when additional information becomes available.
- Streamline workflows by connecting your CRM or website backend directly to WhatConverts.
- Maintain accurate, centralized reporting without manual uploads or spreadsheets.
Examples of How Businesses Use Endpoints
Endpoints are most commonly used by advanced users, developers, and agencies that need to automate lead delivery from third-party systems.
Here are some practical examples:
- CRM Sync: When a lead is created in a CRM, a POST request sends that data into WhatConverts to ensure it’s tracked and reported.
- Custom Form Integrations: Websites or apps that don’t use WhatConverts tracking scripts can still send form data directly to WhatConverts using an endpoint.
- Lead Updates: A CRM or marketing automation tool sends a POST request to update a lead’s status, value, or notes in WhatConverts.
