Create an Individual Lead Intelligence Rule From Scratch

Creating a Lead Intelligence rule from scratch gives you complete control over which leads trigger actions and what happens when they do. This guide walks you through building custom IF/THEN rules to automate lead qualification and workflow tasks, and customize how you send leads to ad platforms. 

Create a New Rule From Scratch 

To create a new Lead Intelligence rule: 

1. Access the Master Account or Profiles settings depending on where you want to apply rules. 
2. Click "Lead Intelligence" from the menu. 
3. Click "+ Add Intelligence Rule". 
4. Click "Add Individual Rule". 
5. Select "Build rule from scratch" from the three options presented. 

Define Rule Conditions (IF) 

Conditions are the "IF" part of your rule and define which leads will trigger the rule. 

1. Set up your first condition by selecting:
   • Dimension: The lead data point to check (e.g., Lead Type, Duration, Quotable)
   • Qualifier: The comparison operator (e.g., is, contains, greater than)
   • Value: The value you want to compare against
2. To add multiple conditions, click the "+" icon and choose whether to connect them with:
   • AND: All conditions must be met
   • OR: Any condition can be met

Example condition: 

• Dimension: Lead Type 
• Qualifier: is 
• Value: Phone Call AND 
• Dimension: Duration (Seconds) 
• Qualifier: greater than 
• Value: 60 

Set Rule Actions (THEN) 

Actions are the "THEN" part of your rule and define what happens when conditions are met. 

1. Configure your first action by selecting:
   • Type of Action: What the rule will do (e.g., Set value, Ask AI, Send conversion)
   • Dimension: What lead data point will be updated
   • Value: The value to apply
2. To add more actions, click "+ Add Action". Multiple actions are connected with AND and all execute when conditions are met.

Example action: 

• Type of Action: Set value 
• Dimension: Quotable 
• Value: Yes AND 
• Type of Action: Increase value 
• Dimension: Lead Score 
• Value: 10 

Finalize the Rule 

After defining conditions and actions: 

1. Click "Continue".
2. Fill in the rule details:
   • Rule Name: Give your rule a descriptive name
   • Rule Description: Add notes about what the rule does (optional)
   • Activate Rule?: Toggle on to activate immediately, or leave off to activate later
   • Which time zone should apply to this rule?: Select the appropriate time zone
3. Click "Complete" to save the rule and return to the Lead Intelligence page.

Apply Rules to Existing Leads 

To run your new rule on leads that already exist in your account: 

1. From the Lead Intelligence page, click "Manage Rules".
2. Select "Apply Rules to Existing Leads".
3. Configure the application:
   • Select a date range for which leads to process
   • Check the rules you'd like to apply
   • Confirm lead data modification
4. Click "Apply Rules to Selected Leads".
