Track Pure Chats
Pure Chat is a live chat platform that provides website chat widgets, visitor tracking, and customer engagement tools. WhatConverts can track Pure Chat conversations through a Zapier integration combined with custom JavaScript code, which captures finished chat conversations along with complete marketing attribution, including source, medium, campaign, landing page, and click ID information.
Note: If you haven't added your WhatConverts tracking script to your website, add your tracking script. If you are using the WhatConverts WordPress Plugin, you will want to deactivate the plugin and place your WhatConverts Tracking Code above your Pure Chat Integration Code.
Set Up Pure Chat Tracking
To track Pure Chat conversations with WhatConverts, you'll need to add custom tracking code around your Pure Chat widget, configure chat settings in Pure Chat, and set up a multi-step Zapier automation.
Step 1: Add Tracking Code to Your Website
- Where your Pure Chat Widget is installed on your page, add the following code directly above your installation code:

Step 2: Configure Pure Chat Settings
- Log in to Pure Chat. In the left-side navigation, click on "Websites". Where your Pure Chat box is On, click "Customize".
- Select "Chat". Under the Start Chat menu, Uncheck the Other box. Click "Save".
Step 3: Set Up Zapier Integration
- Go to Zapier and click “Make a Zap”.
- Search for and select "Pure Chat" as your Trigger App.
- Click "Finished Chat" under Choose Trigger Event. Click
"Continue". - Select or add your Pure Chat account and continue. Select the Chat Box from the dropdown and
continue. - In an incognito window, go to the website Pure Chat is installed on, but add the following to the end of your
URL:?utm_source=PureChatTestSource&utm_medium=PureChatTestMedium&utm_keyword=PureChatTestKeyword&utm_content=PureChatTestContent&utm_campaign=PureChatTestCampaign&gclid=TestGclid&msclkid=TestMSClkID&force_utm=true&wc_clear=true
- Start and end a chat.
- Go back to Zapier. Click "Test & Review" on your Pure Chat step. Select the
"Finished" chat.
Step 4: Configure Zapier Formatters
- Search for and select "Formatter by Zapier" as the Action App.
- Select "Text" as your Action Event. Select "Split Text" under Transform.
- Under Values click "Insert a Field" and select "Company" from Step 1.
- Under Separator type + and under Segment Index select "All (as Separate Fields)" from the drop-down. Click "Test & Continue".
- Click the "+". Add an additional "Formatter by Zapier" Action Step.
- Select "Text" as your Action Event. Under Transform, select "URL Decode" and click "Insert a Field". Locate and select the Landing Page URL from Step 3 of your Zap. In the example below, it is "Output Item 13" from the Values drop-down.
- Click "Continue". Review the data and click "Test and Continue".
Step 5: Set Up WhatConverts Action
- Click the "+" to add an Action Step and select "WhatConverts" as your Action App. Select "Create Lead" as the Action Event. Click "Continue". Select your WhatConverts account to integrate with Pure Chat.
- On the Set up action page, set the fields as follows:
- Lead Type: Chat
- Profile: Your WhatConverts Profile
- Referrer Source: Zap step 3 - Output Item 1
- Referrer Medium: Zap step 3 - Output Item 3
- Referrer Campaign: Zap step 3 - Output Item 5
- Referrer Content: Zap step 3 - Output Item 7
- Referrer Keyword: Zap step 3 - Output Item 9
- IP Address: Zap step 1 - IP Address
- User ID: Zap step 3 - Output Item 15
- Gclid: Zap step 3 - Output Item 11
- Msclkid: Zap step 3 - Output Item 17
- Lead Page: Zap step 1 - Website
- Landing Page: Zap step 4 - Output Item 13
- Add the following fields under Additional Fields:
- Email Address: Zap step 1 - Email
- Name: Zap step 1 - Name
- Chat Log URL: Zap step 1 - View Transcript URL
- Click "Continue". Click "Test and Continue" to send a test to WhatConverts. When the test is successful, you can name your Zap and turn your Zap "on".
Your Pure Chat integration is now complete. WhatConverts will capture all finished chat conversations from Pure Chat through Zapier and create leads with full attribution data.
