Set Up Local Service Ads (LSA)

Local Service Ads (LSAs) help local businesses connect with customers searching for their services on Google. To track calls from LSAs in WhatConverts, you'll create a tracking number and have Google's support team add it to your Local Service Ads account.

How It Works

Local Service Ads display your business at the top of Google search results for local service queries. By adding a WhatConverts tracking number to your LSA profile, you can track which calls come from LSAs separately from other Google Ads campaigns and measure lead quality.

Set Up LSA Call Tracking

To track calls from Local Service Ads, follow the complete setup guide:

Add a Phone Number to Track Google Local Service Ads Calls

This guide walks you through:

  • Creating a dedicated LSA tracking number in WhatConverts
  • Configuring proper attribution settings
  • Getting the tracking number ready for your LSA account

Add Your Tracking Number to Google Local Services Ads

Once your WhatConverts tracking number is set up, you need to contact Google's support team to have them add it to your LSA account:

  1. Access your Local Services ads account.
  2. Contact Google's support team using this link.
  3. Type in your request (for example, "Update my business phone number").
  4. Select "Updating account information".
  5. Add your contact and account information.
  6. Include your new WhatConverts tracking number in the request.
  7. Submit the request.

Google support will contact you to confirm the change and update your Local Service Ads phone number to the WhatConverts tracking number.

Note: Unlike other Google Ads features, you cannot change your LSA phone number yourself. Google's support team must make this change for you.

Verify LSA Call Tracking

Once Google has updated your phone number:

  1. Search for your business using a search term that triggers your Local Service Ad.
  2. Note the phone number displayed in the ad.
  3. Call the number from a test device.
  4. In your WhatConverts profile, navigate to "Leads" in the top menu.
  5. Check that the test call appears in the Lead Manager with proper attribution.

Understand LSA Attribution

Calls from Local Service Ads will appear in WhatConverts with:

  • Source: google
  • Medium: cpc (can be adjusted when creating number)
  • Phone Name: The name you gave the tracking number during setup
  • Caller Information: Phone number, location, and call details

This attribution allows you to track how many leads come from LSAs separately from other Google Ads campaigns.
