Connect WhatConverts to HubSpot
Connect WhatConverts to HubSpot through Zapier to automatically sync lead data and sales information between the two platforms.
Before You Begin
To set up this integration, you will need:
- A HubSpot account
- A Zapier account
- Your WhatConverts API key:
- For Master Account integrations: Generate a Master API Key
- For Profile integrations: Generate a Profile API Key
Enable the HubSpot Visitor ID
WhatConverts can capture the HubSpot visitor ID (the hubspotutk cookie) from visitors on your website and include it with your lead data. This is not a direct integration with HubSpot. Enabling it does not send or receive any data from your HubSpot account. It only allows WhatConverts to capture the visitor ID value so you can use it in your Zapier workflows when you send data back to HubSpot.
To enable the HubSpot visitor ID:
- Log in to WhatConverts and select the profile you want to enable it for.
- Go to "Tracking" then "Integrations".
- Under "CRMs", find the HubSpot card.
- Click "Connect".
Once enabled, the HubSpot visitor ID is available in your data for leads captured after the setting was turned on. Existing leads are not backfilled.
Passing this value to HubSpot when you create or update a contact lets HubSpot associate the contact with that visitor's tracked activity, rather than relying on an email match alone.
Connect HubSpot to Zapier
To connect your HubSpot account to Zapier:
- When setting up your first HubSpot step in a Zapier workflow, you'll be prompted to connect your account.
- Click "Sign in to HubSpot".
- Log in to your HubSpot account to authorize Zapier.
- Select "Allow" to grant Zapier access.
- Your HubSpot account will now be connected and available for all your Zapier workflows.
Create a Custom Property in HubSpot
To create custom properties in HubSpot for storing the WhatConverts Lead ID:
- Log in to HubSpot
- Go to "Settings" (gear icon)
- Navigate to "Properties"
- Select "Contact Properties"
- Click "Create Property"
- Name the property something like "WhatConverts Lead ID" or "Lead ID"
- Set the field type to "Single-line text" or "Number"
- Save the custom property
This custom property will be available for mapping in your Zapier workflows.
Understand the Data Flow Options
The HubSpot integration supports bidirectional data flow through separate Zapier workflows:
From WhatConverts to HubSpot
- Send new lead data from WhatConverts to create contacts in your CRM
- Keep your sales team updated with fresh leads from your marketing efforts
- Store the WhatConverts Lead ID as a custom property in HubSpot for future updates
From HubSpot to WhatConverts
- Send deal values and sales data back to WhatConverts when deals close
- Track revenue attribution to understand which marketing sources generate the most valuable customers
- Update existing leads in WhatConverts with sales information from your CRM
Set Up Your Zapier Workflows
The HubSpot integration requires separate Zapier workflows for each type of data you want to sync. Choose which workflows you need based on your business requirements:
To send data FROM WhatConverts TO HubSpot
Follow the step-by-step instructions in the Send Leads from WhatConverts to HubSpot article to create the lead-to-contact workflow
To send data FROM HubSpot TO WhatConverts

Test Your Connection
After setting up your Zapier workflows:
- Create a test record in the source platform (lead or contact update, depending on your workflow).
- Verify that the Zapier workflow triggers and completes successfully.
- Check the destination platform to confirm that the data was created or updated with the correct information.
- Review the Validate and Troubleshoot Your HubSpot Integration article if you encounter any issues during testing.
